Network Rail NE Route
Network Rail NE route will be hosting Leeds Station Safety Week on Rail Safety week 2026.
This is a cross-industry collaboration that has 1,300 year 6 students from 30 schools that cover our hotspot areas in Leeds, Knottingley, Wakefield, Barnsley and Bradford.
The students will have had a rail safety session in their school ahead of the visits then across the week each school will bring their students to rotate around 5 activities:
- LNER’s Train Driver Simulator plus safeguarding with the Railway Children
- Northern’s stabled train with on board safety advice
- Cross Country’s On-Board Safety Items Activity
- BTP/MOMs with vehicles and dogs
- Leeds Rhino’s and TPE with physical fun to think about rail travel and water safety with the RNLI
It will really show case what is possible when the railway comes together to raise the awareness of the dangers of the railway to all these students so they know how to stay safe during the summer holidays and as they go forward in to their secondary education.
