Ahead of Rail Safety Week, injury prevention charity Lifeskills will be showcasing rail safety education during a family open day event at their Safety Education Centre in Bristol.

Known for providing immersive and interactive experiences, Lifeskills helps children and families learn through realistic scenarios that encourage them to recognise risks, build confidence and develop safer behaviours in real-life situations.

As part of the event, children will be encouraged to take part in a Rail Safe Friendly Colouring Competition. The activities reinforce key rail safety messages, including staying away from tracks, understanding warning signs, avoiding distractions near railways and recognising the dangers of trespassing, helping to connect creative learning with real-world rail safety education.

Families attending will also experience Lifeskills’ realistic railway platform scenario, where they can explore common railway hazards and platform safety in a safe and engaging environment and meet the local Community Safety Manager from rail safety partner Network Rail.

We’re proud to support Rail Safety Week by bringing together rail safety initiatives, supporting early intervention and promoting wider conversations around rail safety.
