Lumo and Hull Trains

Lumo and Hull Trains are supporting Rail Safety Week once again in 2024.

In 2023 we marked RSW with various engagement events spanning colleague and customer, including visits from the British Transport Police. We also hosted our external auditor who carried out an audit across our Safety Management System.

This year we are ‘building safety together’ by heading out to engage with our colleagues and customer across the entire Lumo and Hull Trains routes to raise the profile and shine the spotlight on safety within the railway. We aren’t just stopping there; we will also be weaving in security, sustainability and wellbeing – all of which can impact on safety!

Throughout the week our HQ teams will be visible on trains and stations and we will be inviting key partners and community stakeholders into our offices to discuss all things safety, inviting ideas on how we can improve safety together, whilst celebrating everything we do really well around safety too (!) We will also be visiting SFOs to listen to the ideas from our colleagues that we work closely with from other train operators. Our teams are having a bit of a switch up and heading out on each others trains to complete safety tours through a different lens.

Our new full 80x cab simulators are also being thrown open to celebrate their implementation, offering colleagues and key stakeholders an opportunity to experience what it is like to be at the helm of our award-winning fleet of trains.

Similar to 2023, we will also have spot prizes and a competition for the best safety improvement ideas which we take forward to implement.
