Rail Safety Week at Southeastern and Network Rail Kent route aims to bring rail safety to the forefront of people’s minds across a range of activities; keeping safety firmly in the spotlight and sharing ideas and best practice to ensure we get “Everyone home safe every day”.

Monday 16th

  • Travel Safe Travel Smart School Visit at Bromstone Primary School (all day) – Network Rail and SE Enforcement Teams will deliver rail safety sessions to Year 5/6 children.
  • Health & wellbeing webinar – SE will host an online session for Network Rail employees titled ‘Hear from our experts – let’s improve our health and wellbeing’ from 13:00 – 13:45.

Tuesday 17th

  • Manager TOC Swap at London St Pancras (09:00 – 17:00) – LNER station and onboard managers will visit St Pancras and KICC for a safety promotion event and best practice exchange with Passenger Services. (19th June will then see SE visiting LNER).

  • Introduction to Train Evacuation at Ashford Depot (10:00 – 12:00) – Practical evacuation training for managers using SET rolling stock and equipment, led by Train Services.

  • Safeguarding Event at Ladywell Station (09:00 – 12:00) – Passenger Services will host a community safeguarding stall focusing on vulnerable persons and awareness materials from Samaritans and partners.

  • Travel Safe Travel Smart School Visit at Margate (All day) – Network Rail and SE Enforcement Teams will deliver rail safety sessions to Year 5/6 children.

  • Health & Wellbeing Webinar – Making a Healthy Mind Plan (13:00 – 13:45) – Online session for Network Rail employees, delivered by the Occupational Health and Wellbeing Team with Qured and Total Active Hub.

Wednesday 18th

  • Safeguarding Our Youth on the Railway at New Cross Station (13:00 – 14:00) – Donovan will join the Passenger Services team meeting to deliver a session focused on youth safeguarding on the railway.

  • Travel Safe Travel Smart School Visit at Margate (All day) – Network Rail and SE Enforcement Teams will deliver rail safety sessions to Year 5/6 children.

  • Health & Wellbeing Webinar – Creating Your Sleep Recipe (13:00 – 13:45) – Online session for Network Rail employees, delivered by the Occupational Health and Wellbeing Team with Qured and Total Active Hub.

Thursday 19th

  • Manager TOC Swap at LNER (King’s Cross) (09:00 – 17:00) – Passenger Services will visit LNER at King’s Cross to exchange best practices, discuss safety approaches, and build on the TOC collaboration initiative.

  • Safeguarding Event at Welling Station (09:00 – 12:00) – Passenger Services and the Safeguarding Team will host a community stall providing leaflets and resources in response to increased vulnerability concerns at the station.

  • Travel Safe Travel Smart School Visit at West Malling Primary School (All day) – Network Rail and SE Enforcement Teams will deliver rail safety sessions to Year 5/6 children.

  • Health & Wellbeing Webinar – The Big Five Health Risks (13:00 – 13:45) – Online session for Network Rail employees, delivered by the Occupational Health and Wellbeing Team with Qured and Total Active Hub.

Friday 20th 

  • Safety Hero 2025 Reveal – Online Presentation (Time TBA) – Safety & Environment team will announce the Safety Hero 2025 award; access is by nomination only and open to all staff.

  • Travel Safe Travel Smart School Visit to Margate, Minster, and Monkton Primary Schools (All day) – Network Rail and SE Enforcement Teams will deliver rail safety sessions to Year 5/6 children.
